In Roulette the winning number is chosen after a ball bouncing around on a spinning wheel comes to rest. Hence the game is one of pure luck as it is imposable to predict the winning number. Players attempt to guess what number will win. Some players use one of the Roulette systems developed over the years while others simply guess at the winning number.
Here are the various wagers available in Roulette:
Inside Bets (made on the numbers inside the table layout):
One number Bets – these pay 35:1; you bet that you can predict the winner out of the 37 or 38 numbers on the layout.
Two number Bets – these pay 17:1; you bet that the winning number is one of the two adjacent numbers you have selected.
Three number Bets – these pay 11:1; you bet that the winning number is one of a group of three numbers you have selected.
Four number Bets – these pay 8:1; you bet that the winning number is one of a group of four numbers that you have selected.
Five number Bets – these pay 6:1; you bet that 00, 0, 1, 2 or 3 will be the winning number (this bet is only available on American Roulette wheels).
Six number Bets – these pay 5:1; you bet that the winning number is in one of two rows of three numbers that you have selected.
Outside bets (made on an area bordering the numbers layout):
Dozens Bets – these pay 2:1; you bet that the winning number is in a group of 12 numbers you have selected. The three groups of 12 numbers are; 1 to 12, 13 to 24 and 25 to 36.
Odd or Even Bets – these pay 1:1; you bet that the winning number will be odd or even (if 0 or 00 wins this bet loses).
Red or Black Bets – these pay 1:1; you bet that the winning number will be red or black (green numbers 0 and 00 cause your bet to lose).
Column Bets – these pay 2:1; you bet that the winning number will be in the column of 12 numbers that you wagered on (there are three columns of 12 numbers).
Except for these, in French Roulette there are also called or announced bets. Bt I won’t speak much of them in this post, since Eurooean Roulette is the most common type of Roulette. I would like to give you a warning as well. If you ever gets to choose between European Roulette and American Roulette at a casino ALWAYS choose the European Roulette, since the American have a double zero which means that the house edge is higher.
At many casinos you can try roulette with play money for free.
